THOMAS ANGELO BOTTJune 18, 1936 ~ September 1, 2017 (age 81)
Tom Bott, 81, of Silver Bay died Friday, September 1, 2017 at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation in Duluth.
He was born on June 18, 1936 to John and Marie (Baribeau) Bott in Saxon, WI where he grew up and attended schools. After graduation, Tom moved to Silver Bay where he was employed at Reserve Mining, first on the loading docks and then in the lab. In addition, he also delivered milk part time. On June 20, 1959 he married Mary Alice Boyle. After his retirement, Tom stayed busy working in the senior program for the state parks and the Tofte Ranger station and also was on the initial team to build the Superior Hiking Trail.
Tom enjoyed family camping trips, Packer football, blackjack, and coffee with friends at Northwoods Family Grille. He served many years as a volunteer on the Silver Bay Fire Department and was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, serving twice as Grand Knight.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, and children Brenda and Paul.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary; children Annette (Kevin) Roberts, Deb (Steve) Johnson, Lisa (Steve) Peterson, and Tom (Leah) Bott; grandchildren Dustin, Gina, and Shana Roberts, Jami, Tyler, and Jenni Johnson, Tim and Tori Bott, Katherine Voth, and Rachel Blakemen; great-grandchildren Madi, Jenaa, Kennady, and Macie; sisters Geraldine (Ronald) Clement and Norita Wiercinski; and many nieces and nephews.
Tom’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thank you to the medical community and all the caregivers over this last year.
Visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, September 7, at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors and will continue on Friday, September 8 from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Silver Bay.
