Allan R. “Skipp” Brandt, 88, of Two Harbors, died Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Lake View Hospital.
Skipp was born September 2, 1937 to Frank and Eleanor (Mattson) Brandt in Duluth. After serving in the U. S. Navy he moved to Two Harbors and married Roberta Stephenson on November 7, 1959. He worked as a mechanic for “the rest of his life”, at Benna Ford-Two Harbors for many years, and at home in his garage.
Skipp was a member of the Isle Royale Boater’s Association, the American Legion, the Voyaguer Snowmobile Club, the North Shore Classic Car Club, and the Loyal Order of Moose-where he was a Past Governor.
He enjoyed time with his family and friends, Lake Superior fishing, snowmobiling, reading and helping his neighbors.
Skipp was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Brandt; and a brother, James Brandt.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Roberta “Robbie” Brandt; a daughter, Connie Bautch; a son, Stephen (Joni) Brandt; a daughter-in-law, Sarah (Bryan) Cox; grandchildren, Drew and Erinn Bautch, Courtney (Mack) Santikko and Cody (Riley Larson) Brandt, and Kaitlyn and Austin Cox; great-grandchildren, Arielle, Audrey and Myles; brothers, Robert (Linda) and Donald (Janet) Brandt; sister, Beverly Truscott; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Skipp’s Life will be held at the Two Harbors Moose Lodge on Saturday, April 25, 2026 . A brief program with military honors at 1 PM followed by lunch.
The family would like to thank everyone at Lake View Hospital for their kindness and compassion.
Memorials are preferred to the Voyaguer Snowmobile Club John Brandt Memorial Scholarship or the Two Harbors Public Library.
