Alma Marie Ferris, 79, of Silver Bay, MN died on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Silver Bay Veteran’s Home.
Alma was born on October 31, 1936 the seventh of eleven children to Emery and Francis Proulx of Argyle, MN. On November 5, 1955 she married Jack Ferris. Alma and Jack then moved to the Silver Bay area, building a home on Highway 1 where they raised their family of four children. Alma worked for many years in the Silver Bay schools as a teacher’s aide and later in the computer lab at the high school. She enjoyed crafts, flower gardening and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Edward Laurence, Paul and Noel Proulx, and sisters Joan Proulx and Priscilla Helgeson.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years Jack; son Wayne (Maggie) Ferris of Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea; daughters Diane (Dave) Engesath and Sharon (Tom) Lohman of Duluth; and Sandy (Jack) Stahlberg of Iron; grandchildren Ellen, Gina, Matt, Rachel, Sara, Andrew, Becky, Zach, Daniel, Mike, Elisabeth, and Katie; step-grandchildren David, Carmin and Megan; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Marie Chaput and brothers Earl, Edward, Daniel and George Proulx.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 16, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Silver Bay. Burial will be in Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery.
