Angeline Bugge

November 11, 1917 — March 28, 2018

Angeline (Ann) Van Eckhout Bugge joined her Heavenly Father on March 28, 2018. She died peacefully surrounded by her family and many friends at Diamond Willow Assisted Living, Lester Park. Angie was born November 11, 1917 in Drake, ND. She grew up with five brothers and one sister on a local grain and livestock farm and graduated from Drake High School in 1936. In 1938, she moved to Duluth where she met her husband of 65 years, Wesley Bugge. They were married on August 9, 1943. Wes was in the Navy and until the end of WWII, she maintained their home and traveled to join her husband at various ports of call.

Following the war, Ann and Wes established a home in Knife River, MN where they lived a loving and productive life for 65 years until Wes’ passing in 2008. Ann was a dedicated wife, welcoming homemaker and endearing mother. Her home was always open to family and friends and she was a respected and cherished member of the community. Everyone was a dear friend. On November 11, 2017 her family, relatives, and community helped Ann celebrate her 100th birthday. Her smile lit up the room and music filled the air. Her joy spread to everyone in the room and lives on as legacy of her full and joyous life. It will remain in our memories forever.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Nellie Van Eckhout; husband Wesley; daughter, Susanne; siblings, Francis, Con, Eli, Bennie, Eddie, Emil.

She is survived by her children: Chuck (Becky), Marianne (Jim); Paul (Amy); grandchildren, Curt (Kris), Stephanie(Tony), Dan (Tricia), Annie (Adam), Joelle (Jason); and great grandchildren, Autumn, Jesse, Jonathan, Katie, Macie, Brenna, Dimarco and Adrianna.

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors. A time for family and friends to share memories and lunch will be held at the Knife River Church immediately following the service.
