Armida Thompson

Armida M. Thompson, 88, Silver Bay, died Monday, October 12, 2026 at Lake View Hospital in Two Harbors.

Armida was born October 18, 1937 to Andres and Mercedes Medina in El Paso, Texas, where she grew up and attended school. After high school she attended business college, then worked as a secretary at Fort Bliss Army base. There she met Vernon Thompson, and they married October 5, 1961 and moved to Silver Bay. She was a homemaker through the years and also worked in the commissary at the Finland Air Force Base for several years, and later as a housekeeper at Bluefin Bay Resort.

Armida was an active member of Sychar Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed bowling, volleyball, knitting, sewing, and time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren she adored.

Armida was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George and Andy; and sister Magdalena.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon; children, Diane (Randy) LaBerge, Donny, (Vickie) Thompson, and Dennis Thompson; grandchildren, Andrew (Ashley), Heather (Greg), Jarred, Tanner (Lexi), and Alison (Caleb); and great-grandchildren, Harley, Titus, Jordan, Forrest, Finley, Clara, Bailey, Gwen, Morgan, Shelby, and Teegan.

Armida’s family would like to thank the staff of Lake View Hospital for the compassionate care they provided in Armida’s last days.

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay. Burial will be in Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery.
