Betty Carroll

April 2, 1930 — October 10, 2015

Betty M. Carroll, 85, formerly of Silver Bay, died Saturday October 10, 2015 at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Duluth.

She was born April 2, 1930 to Rex and Edythe (Lilja) Sanford in Minneapolis.  She grew up in the Duluth, graduated from Central High School and married Richard February 20, 1954.  She moved to Silver Bay in 1954, employed as a secretary for John Galbreath Company, and then a homemaker for many years.  With Richard, she made many woodcrafts, enjoyed needlework and taught piano lessons in her home.

Betty was a member of the United Protestant Church where she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher.  She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, “Friends of the Library”, and volunteered as a Boy and Girl Scout Leader at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard, and a brother, Keith Sanford.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Ken) Skaaren of Bemidji, Carolyn (Kurt) Roller of Superior, Wisconsin, Ricki (Mike) Conley of Proctor, and Heidi (Daryl) Kadrmas of Superior; 8 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Friends and Family are invited to a Graveside Service  11 AM Friday October 16, 2015 at Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery with Luncheon to follow at the United Protestant Church.  Memorials preferred to United Protestant Church Library.
