Betty Ann Helgeson

Betty Ann Jean Helgeson, 96, of Two Harbors died Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Lake View Memorial Hospital in Two Harbors.

She was born July 6, 1925 to Albert and Lena “Molly” (Erickson) Justice in Spokane, Washington. After graduating from high school in Bovill, Idaho, she moved to the University of Idaho, where she met and married Richard Helgeson. They moved to Two Harbors, where they were co-owners of the Ben Franklin Store for many years.

Betty was active in church and various community organizations. She was a past president of the Lake County Humane Society, Chair of Vasa Lodge, Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, and organist, pianist and Sunday School teacher for the Presbyterian and Grace Baptist Churches. She also taught private piano and organ lessons for many years. Her love of music led her to play with many local groups.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Richard.

She is survived by a son, Greg (Susie); granddaughters, Sarah (Tim) Clifford and Heather (Dan) Stone; great-grandchildren Molly, Paige, Ashley, Alex, and Ryan; and a brother-in-law, Bob Helgeson.

Betty’s family would like to thank the staff of Waterview Shores Assisted Living and the doctors and nurses for the wonderful care she received.
