Burton "Buddy" Sveine

July 3, 1925 — March 13, 2015

Burton “Buddy” Jerome Sveine 89, of Two Harbors, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 13, 2015.

He was born July 3, 1925 to George and Marie (Skarpohl) Sveine in Hanska, Minnesota.  Buddy grew up and attended school in New Ulm.  He married Erma Jean Lauer in Charles City, Iowa in 1948.  Buddy owned and operated a cab and bus line in New Ulm, and then later moved to and worked for the village of Babbitt.  In 1968, he moved to Two Harbors where he worked for J&J Casting.  He then started Buddy’s Wild Rice which he operated until his retirement.  Buddy loved to spend time with his family and friends and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and visiting with customers at his shop. He was also a member of Grace Baptist Church,

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife (aka “His Queen”) Erma Jean; 7 brothers; and 6 sisters.

Buddy will be greatly missed by his sons, Steven, of Two Harbors; Tom (Sally) of Two Harbors; and Doug (Sue) of Bemidji; daughters, Penny Stark and Jenny (Roger) Walsberg, both of Two Harbors; grandchildren,Shane and Yancy Stark, Jessica Rustad, Julie Funkey, Michael Sveine, and Ruby and Kate Walsberg; great grandchildren, Brittany, Stephanie, Cooper, Wyatt, Jonathan, Julian, and Jameson; his sister, Verna Kenney of Seattle, WA; special girls, Rosemary, Alicia and Abi; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Friday, March 20, 2015 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors.
