Carl R. Carlson, 67, Two Harbors, died Friday, January 30, 2026 at Aspirus-St. Luke’s Hospital.
He was born August 9, 1958 to Robert and Carol (Ojala) Carlson in Virginia, MN, and grew up in Lakeland, near Biwabik, and later Brimson. After graduating from Two Harbors High School in 1976, Carl worked as a millwright and iron worker, then Husky Hydraulics, Two Harbors Machine Shop, LaBounty Manufacturing, Sure-Fab, Mecklin Excavating and most recently, Simko Recycling.
Carl enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping, and fishing trips to Cody’s Resort in Canada. Also important were daily phone calls with his friend, Joe Foster, who made possible one more fishing trip. His greatest joy was being a grandfather to Briggs.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Ken Yates.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie, a daughter, Renae Carlson (Chase Peterson); grandson, Briggs; sisters, Nancy (Kip) Cardinal, Lynn (Chuck) Mead, Becky Carlson and Roberta Yates; many nieces and nephews, and good friends.
A Celebration of Carl’s Life will be held from 4-6 PM on Friday, February 20, 2026 at the American Legion in Two Harbors.
