Carl E. “Gene” Schreyer, 94, Two Harbors, passed from his temporary home to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Waterview Shores.
Gene was born July 24, 1931 to Karl and Muriel (Riesberg) Schreyer in Rice Lake, WI. After moving to Seattle for a short time as a child, the family returned to Wisconsin and Gene graduated from high school in Superior. He attended Moody Bible College for a short time before serving in the Army from 1955 until 1957. Gene returned to Superior where he graduated from UWS with his teaching degree. He spent the next 31 years teaching 5th and 6th grades in Two Harbors. Following retirement, Gene and Darlene enjoyed wintering in Destin, Florida.
Outside of work, Gene’s life revolved around the church, leading choir, teaching Sunday School and church outings. He especially enjoyed camping with family and friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, twin sisters, Lora Lee and Lois, brother, Douglas “Jack”, and his youngest son, Cris.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Darlene; sons, Mark (Leann) Schreyer and Steven Schreyer (Mary Jo Miller); daughter-in-law, Kelly Schreyer; grandchildren Breanna (Charlie), Jenell (Alex), Shayne (Sonja), Jordan, Matthew, Laci (Brandon), Amy (August) and Molly; 9 great-grandchildren with two more arriving later this year, as well as several special cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Anchor Point Church Two Harbors 11 AM Saturday, June 13th preceded by a visitation at 10 AM. To share a memory or leave an online condolence visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com.
