Clifford Victor Sundstrom, 91, of French River, died Monday, March 9, 2020 at Waterview Shores.
Cliff was born January 3, 1929 to Victor and Ida (Anderson) Sundstrom in Duluth Township, graduated from Clover Valley High School in 1947, and was a lifelong resident of French River. Cliff served in the US Marine Corps from 1950-1952, during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by the DM&IR Railroad until 1963, and the Superwood plant in Duluth from 1965 until his retirement in 1991.
Cliff was a member of French River Lutheran Church, the American Legion, the Loyal Order of Moose, the Homesteaders, and Sons of Norway. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and time spent at this cabin on Pike Lake, near Grand Marais, that he owned for over 50 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian; stepson, Bruce Eskola; brother, Bert Sundstrom; and sister, Svea Jackson.
Cliff is survived by his granddaughter, Jody (Gary) Hepola; great-grandson, Jeremy Eskola; nephews, Gerald (Jeanette) Jackson, Robert (Barbara) Jackson, and Leslie (Carol) Jackson, and extended family, Janelle, Brad, Macey and Brjen Jones.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at French River Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery Palmers.
