Darlene Daly, 75, Two Harbors, died Sunday January 25, 2015 in Lake View Memorial Hospital following a long illness, with her family at her side.
Darlene was born February 23, 1939 to Fred and Julia (Borg) Carlsten in Minneapolis. She had many great memories from growing up on the family farm in Cuyuna. After graduating from high school in Crosby, she moved to Aitkin, where she worked as a nurse’s aide at Aitkin Community Hospital.
On the 4th of July 1957 she met Richard “Dick” Daly and they were married March 1, 1958, moving to Two Harbors on their honeymoon. In 1965 Darlene went to work at Lake View Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aide, later working in central supply and as a surgical technician, until retiring in 1994.
Darlene was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, rosemaling, traveling with her family and close friends, and she was a very good cook. Over the years she learned to be a good cook. She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Carol and Millie, and brothers, Robert, Floyd and Ted.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; daughters, Julie (Ken) Cavallin of Two Harbors and Jennifer Daly (John Olson) of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Katie (John) Dover, Matt (Meghan) Cavallin, Marci Cavallin, and Emily Gottschald; a great-grandson, Samuel; and special friends, Joannie Vodnick, Jeannie Sorenson, and JoAnn Larson.
Services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors.
