Two Harbors

David Edwin Ziburski passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025 at the Lakeview Hospital in Two Harbors. Dave is the beloved son of Edwin and Ruth Ziburski. Born August 3rd, 1951 in Park Falls, Wisconsin. He graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1969. After high school, he trained in auto repair at Duluth Technical College in 1970.

As a young man, Dave was an ambitious go-getter with multiple jobs including snow shoveling, lawn mowing, morning and afternoon paper routes, and logging with his father on weekends. During high school, he was employed by Anderson Greenhouse and mowing lawn at the Two Harbors Cemetery.

After high school, Dave spent 3 seasons on the Great Lakes Ore Boats and 2 years in the Merchant Marines on the West Coast. In 1973, Dave moved closer to home working for the DMIR railroad. Always seeking new opportunities, Dave obtained his real estate license in 1985, selling properties for Stout Realty.

In 1978, Dave married Susan Banks and built his dream home in Clover Valley, clearing the land and fishing for brook trout in his beloved Knife River.

In 1989, Dave completed a Truck Driving Course at Duluth Technical College, always seeking new adventures and what was around the next curve. Dave loved life on the road working mainly for Three Rivers Trucking based in Floodwood, MN. Upon returning from those numerous long trips, he enjoyed his solitude at his beloved cabin in Brimson, MN.

Dave’s great interests included playing softball, fishing, sports, music and animals including his beloved dog Sadie and brother Jim’s dog Rusty. He was an avid reader of many subjects, he loved to listen to and record his favorite music. He loved to catalog and organize his many interests including sports, music, politics, and of course the many quotes he tried to live by. Dave was a very unique individual that lived life on his own terms and cared for people. He did not tolerate injustice and was always quick to help others whether it be a pair of socks to his aunt, a donut to a neighbor or a trek across the country to bring home a struggling family member.

Dave endured years of declining health, the result of hard work and long hours on a cold deck of an ore boat or behind the wheel of a truck. Dave died peacefully knowing he was loved and cared for unconditionally by those who knew him best, his family, the medical staff and hospice community.

Dave is preceded in death by his Father, Edwin Ziburski of Two Harbors, uncle Ervin Ziburski and his aunts Irene Doors and Carol Smith. He is survived by his mother Ruth Ziburski of Two Harbors, sister Jean (Lyle) Hagenbeck of North Port, Florida, brother Jim Ziburski (Partner - Lori Schmidt) in Ely, Minnesota and his aunts Dorothy Bowers and Althea Lewis. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews.

Dave’s family would like to acknowledge the helpful neighbors at Bayview Apartments, the wonderful care he received from Two Harbors Community Partners especially Megan for the countless hours helping organize, Aspirus Staff in Duluth and Lakeview Hospital medical team in Two Harbors for exceptional care in his last few months. A special thanks to Sonja and the entire Hospice Community. We are most grateful to Hospice Nurse, Holly for helping Dave through this challenging journey.
