Donald Hambleton

December 26, 1928 — February 25, 2016

Donald Oliver Hambleton, 87, died peacefully Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Duluth, Minnesota. He was born near Mora, Minnesota on December 26, 1928 to Oliver and Maude Hambleton. He graduated from Grand Co. High School in Moab, Utah in 1946. He joined the Air Force in September of 1949 and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. He married Myrtle Clara Carlson on January 20, 1950.  He attended the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1952 with honors, from the School of Business. He began working at the 3M Company in 1952 as a statistical analyst and retired as an assistant secretary to the company in 1984. He moved to Moab, Utah and lived there with his wife for 23 years and then moved to Two Harbors, Minnesota to be closer to his children. He loved to go traveling, four wheeling, “fixing” cars, watching NASCAR, and telling his jokes. His faith in God was a strength for him throughout his whole lifetime.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Maude; brothers, Harvey and Daryl; sisters, Joyous, Genevieve, and Della.

Donald is survived by the love of his life and wife, Myrtle after 66 years of marriage; his brother, Brent (Janet) Hambleton of Fresno, California; son, Scott Hambleton of Baxter, Minnesota; Cheryl (Kim) Price of White Bear, Minnesota; Cindy (Bill) Ortman of Two Harbors, Minnesota; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  He will be in our hearts forever.

A memorial service will be at the Diamond Willow Assisted Living 6355 E. Superior Street, Duluth, Minnesota on Saturday, March 5 @ 11:00.  In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to your charity of choice.
