Donald P. Sivertson, 97, of Lutsen and formerly of Richfield, died Monday, January 5, 2026 at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Silver Bay.
Don was born September 27, 1928 to Paul and Nan (Berg) Sivertson in Menominee, Wisconsin, where he grew up and graduated from high school in 1946. In 1950, he received his BA Degree from Augsburg College. He married the love of his life, Mary Gilbertson in 1951. During the Korean War, he served in the U. S. Army. After his honorable discharge in 1953, he was employed by Sperry-Univac (now Unisys) for 32 years, retiring in 1985. Moving to Lutsen, he served for 13 years as a Soil and Water Conservation Supervisor for Cook County, and was one of the founders of the Caribou Lake Property Owners Association.
Don was a member of Lutsen Evangelical Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #413, and the Masonic Lodge #342.
He enjoyed football, old westerns, and dogs.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and in 2006 his wife, Mary.
He is survived by his children, Linda M. (Brad Hanson) Hugill; son, Paul H. (Judy) Sivertson; grandchildren, Phillip (Stephanie) Hugill, Jacob (Rachel) Sivertson, and Carla (Dan Johnson) Hugill; step-grandchildren, Cory (Jennifer) Friest and Clayton (Kelly Ochis) Friest; 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister Loryce Sivertson.
Services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Lutsen Evangelical Lutheran Church.
