Donald Wick

Donald Wick, 90, of Castle Danger (Two Harbors) died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 in St. Luke’s Hospital.

He was born on May 8, 1928 to Albin and Clara (Jacobson) Wick in Two Harbors and was a life-long resident of Castle Danger. After graduating from Two Harbors High School in 1946, he served in the U. S. Army, then attended Milwaukee School of Engineering.  He returned to the North Shore and was employed in the construction of Reserve Mining Company in Silver Bay, and later worked as a millwright there until 1986. He was also self-employed as Wick Refrigeration.

Dub served on the Silver Creek Township Board of Supervisors for 21 years, and was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Loyal Order of Moose.  He loved his home on Lake Superior in Castle Danger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Craig Herrington; and a granddaughter, Jana Wick.

Dub is survived by his wife of 66 years; Jane; sons, Brian (Kathy) Wick of Clear Lake, Wisconsin, Lee (Debbie) Wick of Maple Grove, and Bart (Isabel) Wick of St. Paul; daughters, Pam (Mark) Shere of Lakewood, Washington, and Melissa (Dale) Carlson of Duluth; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.

Visitation will be from 4:30 PM to 7 PM on Friday, October 5 at Cavallin Funeral Home and will continue from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Two Harbors.
