Donna Vollmer

In Loving Memory

Donna Joan Vollmer, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 29, 2019 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Silver Bay.

Donna was born in So. St. Paul, Minnesota on June 27, 1930 to Walt Sr. and Sophia (Huffman) Reeves. The Reeves family then moved to Peoria, Illinois where Donna graduated from Manual Training High School. From there she attended beauty school. She was married to Norman Vollmer in Peoria, Illinois on February 17, 1951.They recently celebrated 68 years of marriage. After marrying Norman, the family moved to Cottage Grove, Minnesota and then to Two Harbors, Minnesota. Donna spent many of her years in Two Harbors on Lake Superior, where she and her husband owned and operated Halcyon Harbor Resort. She spent her last two years in Silver Bay to be near her husband.

In her free time, Donna enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing Scrabble and collecting agates with her grandchildren. Donna was an active member of Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church of Two Harbors.

Donna is survived by her husband Norman; two sons, Keith Vollmer of Two Harbors, Minnesota and Steve Vollmer of Savage, Minnesota; her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Jim Deputy of Tucson, Arizona; and four grandchildren, Josh Vollmer, Chad Vollmer, Collin Deputy and Chase Deputy.

She is preceded in death by her parents Walt Sr. and Sophia, her brothers Walt Jr., Barney and Bob; and daughter-in-law Carol (Burns) Vollmer.

Services will be held on Sunday, July 7th, 2019 at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the service following at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church. A “Celebration of Life” will be set for a future date and time.
