Dorothy Croke

Dorothy Belich Croke, 96, of Two Harbors, died Friday, July 5, 2019 at Waterview Shores in Two Harbors, with her family at her side.

She was born on February 17, 1923 to Daniel and Mildred ( Kachar) Belich the 11th of 12 children in Duluth, grew up in Brevator Township, rural Cloquet, and attended schools in Brookston, graduating in 1940.  She moved to Two Harbors to work at a restaurant and married Clarence Croke in 1942.  While Clarence served in the military, Dorothy moved to Minneapolis and was employed at Honeywell.  After the war, they returned to Two Harbors to raise their 4 children.  Dorothy was employed at Western Electric and later Duluth Avionics until her retirement.

Dorothy was an avid sports fan, especially the Twins and Vikings, and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and playing cribbage.  She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by husband, Clarence; a son, Ronald; and all of her siblings.

Dorothy is survived by children, Daniel (Kathy) of Duluth, Jeanne (Glen) Anderson of Chetek, WI, and Julie (Bill) Highmark of Two Harbors; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Luke’s Hospice and Waterview Shores for the excellent care they provided.

Visitation will be from 5 PM until the 7 PM Wake Prayers on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Cavallin Funeral Home and will continue from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 10 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors.
