Dorothy Norlander, 88, of Two Harbors, passed on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Waterview Shores.
Dorothy was born to Barney and Belva (Olsen) Gustafson on October 16, 1932 in Superior where she grew up and attended school. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree and later her Master’s Degree in Fine Art from UWS. Dorothy was employed as an Art teacher in Carlton and later worked as a substitute teacher for Lake Superior School District. She has lived in Two Harbors since her marriage to Eugene Norlander in 1975.
Dorothy was also an entrepreneur, operating Country Crafts and Doria’s Fabric.
Dorothy was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she was active as a Sunday school teacher, in the choir, and women’s Bible Study. She was also a member of ABC Crafters and Spiritwind.
She enjoyed crafting, golfing, tailoring and sewing, baking, singing and dancing, and flower and vegetable gardening. More than all of these, she enjoyed time spent with her family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Eugene; daughters, Constance (Craig) MacRae and Carolyn (Doug) Jackson; step-children, Lynette (Steve) Case, Jennie Parresol, Don (Vickee) Norlander, Doug (Laura) Norlander, and Jill (Tim) Batman; grandchildren, Thomas (Anna) Cawcutt Jr., Michael-George (Kelly) Cawcutt, Torrance (Andrea Jolene) Cawcutt, Ryan-Douglas (Raychel) Jackson, Nicholas (Julie) Jackson, Noah Jackson, Jennifer (Kurt) Atwater, Michael Case, Anne Signe Case, John Parresol, Jack Parresol, Donny (Shelby) Norlander, Annie (Erik) Nielson, Erik Norlander, Andrew Norlander, Brian Norlander, Katie Batman, Ellie Batman, and Sarah (Caleb) Hay; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline Sparby.
Visitation will be from 5 PM until 7 PM on Thursday, August 12 at Cavallin Funeral Home. The “last party” will be held at 1 PM on Friday, August 13 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
