Edward Nordahl

July 1, 1939 — December 19, 2016

Ed Nordahl, 77, of Two Harbors, formerly of Hoyt Lakes, was peacefully called to his heavenly home with his family at his side on Monday, December 19, 2016 in Duluth.

He was born to Erling and Margit Nordahl on July 1, 1939 in Two Harbors, MN.  Here he would grow up through the trials and tribulations of a youth and provide stories for the next generation.  He graduated from Two Harbors High School and went on to work for Erie Mining Company in Hoyt Lakes, MN.  Ozzie married his high school sweetheart, Carol Lind on April 9, 1960 in Castle Danger, MN.   They moved to Hoyt Lakes, MN in 1964 and raised 5 children.  Ozzie worked as a foreman for Erie until his retirement.  With Carol at his side they looked forward to retirement and built their forever home back in Castle Danger, MN where they enjoyed traveling and spending time near the “Lake” and coming back to their roots.

Ozzie loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also was an active member of the Hoyt Lakes Boat Club, Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes, the Sons of Norway, Our Saviours Lutheran in Castle Danger and the Masons.

He is survived by his loving, caring wife of 56 years, Carol, children, Mary Kay (Carl) Kindberg, of West Chester, OH, Richard (Carma) of Sheldon, Iowa, Steven of Owatanna, MN, Kimberly Riedberger of Silver Bay, MN and James of Hibbing, MN,  16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many cousins that are in Norway.  He will be forever in our thoughts and hearts.

Visitation will be from 5 PM until the 7 PM Masonic service on Thursday December 22, 2016 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors.  Service will be held 11 AM Friday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Castle Danger.

Memorials are preferred to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway or Taconite Masonic Lodge.
