Elizabeth "Betty" Kourofsky
July 5, 1931 — March 4, 2016
Elizabeth A. Kourofsky, 84, formerly from Silver Bay, Minnesota, died March 4, 2016, at CountrySide Assisted Living in Owatonna, Minnesota.
She was born July 5, 1931 to Joseph and Mary (Grogan) LaVigne in Lyon Mountain, New York, where she grew up and graduated from high school. Betty married Francis (Corky) Kourofsky in 1951, and they moved to Minnesota in 1954. Betty devoted her life to being a wife, mother and friend. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Silver Bay. Betty’s family will miss her kindness, generosity, and how much she cared for each family member. She always said she was praying for us and took that job to heart.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ambrose LaVigne, Bernard (Reinette) LaVigne, Robert (Joyce) LaVigne; and daughter-in-law Grace Kourofsky.
Betty is survived by her husband of 64 years, Corky, of Owatonna; sons, Jeffrey (Deborah) of Webberville, Michigan, and Michael of Moorhead, Minnesota; daughters, Kathleen (Joseph) Schramm of Two Harbors, Minnesota, Mary (Lee) Resler of Owatonna, Minnesota, and Linda (Paul) Koehler of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, sister-in-law Lillian LaVigne, New York, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Owatonna. Interment will be at the Silver Bay Cemetery at a later date.
