Helen Bolen

Helen Bolen, 81, of Two Harbors, died Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Aspirus-St. Luke’s Hospital.

Helen was born May 13, 1945 to Arthur and Magdalene (Falk) Bolen in Two Harbors, where she grew up and attended school.

Helen enjoyed playing bingo, shopping, going out to eat, watching old westerns, and spending time with her family. She loved her grandchildren more than anything and always had treats on hand to share with them.

Helen was preceded in death by her oldest son Robert “Bobby” Merritt; her parents; and her brother, Robert Bolen.

She is survived by her children Ray (Shannon) Merritt, and Patricia Klinker; her grandchildren, Daniel Merritt, Rachel Merritt, Lei Lani Merritt, Beth Bergman, Jerrika Merritt, Sebastian Merritt, James (Jamie) Klinker; step-grandchildren, Jesse Draman (Dizzy), Amanda Peak (Brian), and Jose Barragan (Nikki); a brother, William Bolen; sisters, Mary (David) Udenberg, Maggie “Jane” Olson, and Karen Amundson. She also leaves behind 16 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

For the last two years, Helen resided at Agate Bay Assisted Living. Over the past year, she especially enjoyed spending time with her caregivers and fellow residents, playing bingo, and participating in the community.

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Sam, Felicia, and the entire Agate Bay team for the compassionate care and kindness they provided to Helen during the last years of her life.
