Jack Ray

Jack Ray, 83, of Two Harbors, died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital following complications from surgery.

Jack was born August 5, 1933 to Ben, Sr. and Nora Evalyn (Tipton) Ray in Vonore, TN. The family moved to South Range, WI when Jack was 14 years old. He attended Superior Central and Northwestern High School, where he graduated from in 1952. Jack and the former Carol Swardstrom were united in marriage on October 1, 1955. He was employed as an ironworker and worked at Husky Hydraulics in Two Harbors for many years.

Jack was a member of the United Church, Fortitude Lodge #188, AAD Temple of the Shrine, and Scottish Rite.

He was avid supporter of Two Harbors Agates sports teams, especially football and basketball. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting, spending time at the family cabin (“London Crossing”) and the hunting shack, volunteering at the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon, and trips to Tennessee to visit his beloved family.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mary Catherine Ray and Betty Lou Abrahamzon; brother Frank Ray; and daughter-in-law, Kim Ray.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Carol; children, Sherry (Rob Milinkovich) Ray of Duluth; Rick (the late Kim) Ray and Jackie (Stan) Hanson of Two Harbors; grandchildren, Derek (Terri) Olson, Mat (Diane) Milinkovich, Andrea Sweeney, Molly (Andy) Frank, Taylor (Darren) Nelson, Abby Ray, Megan Hanson, and Kelsey (Andy) Granowski; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers Jim, Sr. (Rachel) and Ben, Jr. (Kathy) and sisters; JoAnn (the late Leonard) Peterson and Nancy (Nomon) Kennedy.

Visitation will be from 4-6 PM on Sunday February 26, 2017 at the Cavallin Funeral Home as well as one hour before the service which will be held at 2 PM on Monday, February 27, 2017 at The United Church of Two Harbors.
