James Tackett

Arlen Tackett, 68, Silver Bay, died Sunday December 2, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital.

He was born January 14, 1950 to John and Eleanor (Velasquez) Tackett in Alameda, California where he grew up and attended school.  Arlen was trained as a staircase builder in British Columbia, worked in maintenance at UC Berkley, and served in the Peace Corps in Nicaragua and Botswana.  He was self-employed in home renovations in California for many years, moving to Minnesota in 2007, where he worked in St. Peter for several years as a meter reader, moving to Silver Bay in 2014.  Arlen married Cindy Beal in 1997.

He enjoyed the outdoors and was fascinated with history.

Arlen was preceded in death by his father, John and a brother, Robert Tackett.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; son, Kinnell (Stephanie) Tackett; grandchildren, Lachlan, Elowyn, Morgan, Ethan, and Naomi; mother, Eleanor Tackett; and siblings, Richard Tackett, Debra Marquez, and Kenneth Tackett.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, December 7, 2018 at the United Protestant Church in Silver Bay.
