Two Harbors

Judith Ann Ernest, 77, Two Harbors, passed away peacefully Monday, March 14, 2022 at Essentia Health surrounded by her loved ones.

Judie was born July 15, 1944 in Phillips, Wisconsin to Fred and Harriet (Czop) Detzel. When she was a child, the family moved to the logging camp at Forest Center, where she grew up and learned to dance by watching her mother. She lived in Isabella for many years until moving to Two Harbors. Throughout her life, Judie continued to dance while also teaching others, especially at The Northwood’s Band gigs where she was the “queen” of the dance floor. The party didn’t start until Judie walked in. She also enjoyed watching her birds in the morning, gardening, doing crafts, spending time with her family, listening to “Elvis Presley” and watching “The Golden Girls”.

Judie had a special gift when it came to talking to people. She made friends everywhere she went and was “grandma” to so many children. She had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by so many.

Judie was proceeded in death by her parents; a brother, Michael Ewashean; a sister, Harriet Town; and a daughter-in-law, Sharlene Detzel.

She is survived by her children, Cody Detzel and Tara Ernest-Holbeck; grandchildren, Hali (Jay) Johns and Shelby Holbeck; great-grandchildren, Caden and Ariel; a brother Carl (Jenny) Detzel; and a sister Deanna Julin.
