Two Harbors

Kathleen R. Anderson, 76, Two Harbors, died Monday, November 20, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Kathy was born December 19, 1946, to Robert “Candy Andy” and Mabel (Johnson) Anderson in Two Harbors, where she grew up and attended school.

Kathy went on to St. Barnabas Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, graduating in 1967. She started her career working with patients in need of mental health care in the Twin Cities. For a period in the 1980s, Kathy managed a gift and collectible business which included selling Hummel figurines and other collectibles.

Kathy returned to nursing doing in-home health care, then moved into leadership positions with various Assisted Living Facilities where she managed staffing and patient care operations. For the last several years, she oversaw multiple Lang Nelson Associates locations in the Twin Cities, managing client healthcare needs and helping people to remain independent. Kathy loved working with the elderly population and was dedicated to helping people remain independent long into their later years.

Kathy enjoyed spending time on Lake Minnetonka and Lake Superior, golfing in Wayzata and Orono, and traveling - especially to Sanibel Island, Florida, where she relished the sun and sand during many spring breaks. She had recently returned to her hometown of Two Harbors, where she had often dreamt of spending her golden years.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Mabel.

She is survived by her son, Eric (Susan) Anderson; grandchildren, Elsa and Elin; brothers, Michael (Sandy) and Brian; and sister, Elizabeth (William) Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.
