Kenneth Hanson

March 2, 1938 — October 13, 2015

Kenneth Wayne Hanson, 77, of Duluth passed away on Tuesday, 13 October 2015 at St. Luke's Hospice in Duluth, MN.

Ken was born to Mae Eunice Platan on March 2, 1938 in Duluth, MN where he was a lifelong resident.  He married and had two sons, David and Donald Hanson.  In 1968 he married Peggy Snyder in Duluth and they had two sons, Paul and Joel Hanson.

Ken was a Christ-follower and devoted his life to servicing the Lord Jesus Christ and those in need.  He was the Assistant Pastor at Calvary Temple in Duluth where he also served as an Elder and the Bible teacher at Calvary Christian Academy.  He ran the church's printing press, helped with their TV Ministry and outreaches to the Union Gospel Mission and area Nursing Homes.  He also served as church custodian and bus driver.

Ken worked as the Custodial Foreman at the University of Minnesota- Duluth and also served as custodian for Lakeview Christian Academy in Duluth where he donated his entire salary back to the school for student scholarships and supplies.  Students on detention often were assigned to help him clean.  Several purposely got detention because they enjoyed working with him so much.  Ken was a caring, giving person who would help anyone in need.

Ken was preceded in death by his mother, Mae and his brother, David Hanson.

Those privileged to have shared his life include his wife of 47 years, Peggy; 4 sons Dr. David (Kelly) Hanson of Duluth, Donald (Allison) Hanson, New York City; Paul (Jennifer) Hanson, Tulsa, OK, and Joel (LeAnne) Hanson of Duluth; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many good friends.

Visitation will be held at Noon until the 1 PM Memorial Service on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Prince of Peace Fellowship, 1830 E. 1st Street, Duluth MN.  Burial will be at a later date.
