Kenneth Nystrom

Kenneth Francis Nystrom was born May 18, 1943 in Tomahawk, WI to Frances and Herbert Nystrom. He was a proud citizen of Forest Center, MN through his young childhood and attended Silver Bay High School. After high school, he had a short stint at St Cloud State University before joining the Army and being stationed in Lubeck, Germany.

Upon returning to the United States, he re-united with high school schoolmate Kathleen Anderson and they were married on June 24, 1967. The couple resided in Crystal, MN before moving to Hibbing, MN and raising their two boys, Keith and Kyle. Ken resided in Hibbing until the death of Kathy in 2005 and subsequent meeting of his second partner Lavon Reader. Ken’s final residence was in Silver Bay until his death on February 7, 2018.

Ken enjoyed all sports, but was most fond of football, baseball, and hockey. Four-wheeling, hunting, and fishing were among his favorite outdoor activities.

His biggest love was his family, Keith (Kristina), Kyle (Amanda), Lavon, Candy (David) and especially the grandchidren - Ariston, Katelyn, Zoleena, Kaylee, and Larkyan.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 21 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors.
