Kenneth Alfred Sandvik, 78, of Arden Hills, MN, died Monday, October 19, 2026 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Born March 18, 1948 in Two Harbors, MN, he was the son of Alfred Sivert and Margaret Irene (Lampinen) Sandvik. He was the husband of Glennis Elaine Sandvik, his wife of over 19 years, who died in February of 1990.
Ken grew up in Two Harbors, MN, and graduated with Two Harbors' High School's Gold Medal Class of 1966. Ken went on to receive Bachelors Degrees in Accounting and History from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, then a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 1973.
Following university, he worked as the Rock-Nobels Judicial Officer in Luverne, MN, and in 1978, moved back with his family to Two Harbors working as an attorney, including for the City. In November of 1984, he was appointed to the sixth judicial district where he went on to serve as a District Court Judge until retiring in 2010. In addition to his love of the outdoors and family activities, Ken was a life-long member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church serving in a number of volunteer roles, and was active in the community well into retirement. That service included the Board of the Two Harbors Historical Society for over 20 years, as well as the North Shore Rotary Club as a long-time Trustee and term as President. Following a long-standing passion, Ken would share his knowledge and recommendations at the Minnesota State Fair from the Bailey House, and served on the State Fair Foundation Board for 9 years, concluding in 2024.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife Glennis E. (February 1990), his brother Glenn N. (December 1992), as well as his granddaughter Liv E. (November 2005) Sandvik.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Sharon L. Sandvik of Duluth, MN, a brother-in-law, Paul N. Nichols of Owatonna, MN; four sons: Andrew (Gina), Peter (Fatemeh), Paul (Stephanie), and Tim (Karen) Sandvik; nieces and nephews: Maria (Angelo), Matthew, Simon (Jeremy), Martha, and Esther Sandvik; and six grandchildren: Cate, Autumn Joy, Indigo, Abigail, David and Margaret Sandvik.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM memorial service on Friday, October 30, 2026 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. He will be interred at the Lakeview Cemetery in Two Harbors, MN.
