Kurt Holmberg Anderson, 55, died December 25 of natural causes. He was born November 26, 1965 to Brooks Anderson and Diane Ellison.
While he was in school in Duluth, he was 8th grade bass soloist in Woodland Junior High, and in the elite group the Choralaires in East High school. He was also involved in many drama productions, in Duluth, Grand Marais, the Renaissance Festival, and for several years "Prairie Fire", a traveling troupe whose audience was children. Later, he enjoyed connecting with people through his Gnome persona.
He had been employed in many places in the Grand Marais and Grant Portage areas. He had many artistic pursuits, including silver and copper jewelry work, fiber arts, and pottery. He loved to share his creative gourmet cooking with family and close friends. Kurt was a kind and gentle spirit, guileless, who never met a person he didn’t like. His heart was too big for this world.
The loss of Kurt will be deeply felt by his father, Brooks (Coral McDonnell) Anderson, mother, Diane Ellison, sisters Mona (Randy) Delly, Laurie (Mark) Miller, Randine Anderson; niece and nephews, Christa (Ann) Maxwell, Nathan, Eric and Maryn Miller, Jason (Mayu) Nyquist, Leah (Tony) Mootz, Theresa (Jesse) Johnson, Kyra and Lars Lewis, and eight grand nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held in Kurt’s memory this summer at the family cabin on Lake Superior.
Memorials are preferred to Duluth Animal Allies.
