Lawrence Peterson

June 29, 1928 — February 25, 2016

Lawrence (Larry) Curtis Peterson, 87, of Hovland, Minnesota passed way February 25 at the Veterans Home in Silver Bay, Minnesota due to complications of Parkinson's Disease.

Larry was born in Dawson, Minnesota to A.L.E Peterson, and Charlotte Peterson, but spent most of his life on the North Shore.   He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother Robert (Bob) Peterson

Larry enlisted in the US Army in 1951, served for two years, and was honorably discharged.

He married the love of his life, Dorothy on September 8, 1951. They had two children, Margaret of Oak Hills, California, and Lin of Rowland Heights, California. He also loved his daughter-in law Susan and he was proud grandfather to Preston Peterson, Lance Peterson and Kayla (Lance's wife).  He was also a great grandfather to Landon and Cayden.

Larry spent the majority of his work career, working for Edwin E. Thoreson, Contractor, and as a member of the Operating Engineers Local 49.

After retiring over twenty years ago, Larry enjoyed gardening, baking bread, picking blueberries and working in his wood pile.  He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

A celebration of life service is planned at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hovland on Saturday March 12 at 1:00.

The family wishes to extend their most sincere thanks to the Veteran's Home in Silver Bay for all the great care Larry received there.  Also thanks to the many wonderful friends and relatives who have supported the family with love and prayers during this time.
