Linda F. French, age 74, of Two Harbors, MN, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 16, 2025, following a serious illness. Though her passing was unexpected, her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the arms of Jesus.
Linda was born on November 11, 1950. She was an artist and writer, with a degree in Graphic Design, and a fair dislike for the advertising business, leading her to a career in production graphic design instead. She expressed her artistry in many ways, from writing fiction and poetry (some published) to painting, jewelry-making, and papercraft. She was also a woman of steadfast faith, who served the Lord faithfully and touched many lives through her generosity, kindness, and love. She truly believed in the goodness and faithfulness of God, a belief she lived out in the way she cared for her family and her community.
Linda was always a Lake Superior girl, and particularly loved the North Shore, where she was to ultimately settle and live for nearly two decades. She enjoyed long walks on the rocky beaches—but for the love of agates, the crash of surf, and the cries of wheeling gulls rather than romance.
Linda is survived by her son, Chris (Betsy) Byler of Solon Springs, WI; her granddaughter, Amber-Skie Byler of Duluth, MN; her adopted daughter, Jade-River French of Two Harbors, MN; and her brother, Larry Solseth of Fargo, ND.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Timothy Solseth, and her parents, Jim and Eileen Solseth.
Linda will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her family and all who knew her will miss her warm smile, giving spirit, wry humor, and unwavering faith.
Memorial details will be determined and shared at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Heifer International, an organization that reflects Linda’s heart for generosity and service.
Psalm 24:7-10, NASB "Lift up your heads, you gates,
And be lifted up, you [a]ancient doors,
That the King of glory may come in!
8 Who is the King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, you gates,
And lift them up, you [b]ancient doors,
That the King of glory may come in!
10 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of armies,
He is the King of glory. Selah"
