Two Harbors

Lois J. Cross, 89, of Two Harbors, formerly of Cumberland, Maryland died Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at The Waterview Shores in Two Harbors.


She was born September 22, 1934 in Cumberland, Maryland to Russell and Nina (Devor) Leasure, the eldest of four children.  Her sisters were Erma, Shirley, and JoAnn.  Lois attended Fort Hill High School in Cumberland and married Dwayne Jackson Simpson.  The couple moved to Baltimore, Maryland and had two sons, Steven and Herbert.  They divorced shortly after their second child was born and Lois moved back to Cumberland.  Time passed and Lois met Robert “Bob” Cross and they later married.  They built their home in the country and lived there for decades until Lois sold the land and moved into town following Bob’s death.


Lois loved Bingo, canning vegetables and fruit, and at one time liked NASCAR.  She was also a member of Living Waters Fellowship.


Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Bob; and son, Herbert. 


She is survived by her son Steve (Shirley Nicholson) Simpson; sister, Erma; daughter-in-law, Becky Simpson; grandchildren Andrew (Alessandra) Simpson, Abbey (Vince) Green and their children Willow and Madison, Robert (Amanda) Simpson and their son Noah, and Jeffery (Danielle) Simpson and their children Brandon, Alyssa, Taylor, and Lucas.


Services will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Living Waters Fellowship in Two Harbors.
