Lori M Osbakken

June 8, 1959 — November 8, 2025

Two Harbors

Lori Marie Osbakken, lost her battle with cancer on Saturday November 8, 2025. She went to be with Jesus peacefully and without pain because of the amazing staff at Waterview Shores and Essentia-St. Mary’s Hospice team.

Lori grew up at home and throughout the years dealt with many health challenges. Through it all she maintained positive and happy demeanor with a dash of humor bringing levity to the situation.

She was fortunate to be a part of the first special needs educational program developed in Two Harbors. It was started by families and friends, with a handful of students, a few staff, and limited curriculum. This program is still active today.

Lori was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, and confirmed. Her faith and relationship with Jesus was strong and she talked often about Him.

She kept busy at home making hook rugs, watching all-star wrestling, and Northwoods Law. She also enjoyed Animal Planet which she watched for many years with her father who taught her many interesting animal facts. Her love for animals grew into a love pets, farm animals, adventures to zoos, petting zoos, hobby farms and animal refuges. She was also involved with Special Olympics, for many years in track and softball throw. All of this with her best friend, Laurie Mallory. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan attending some in person, but never missing a game.

In 1980, she moved to her first group home for special needs children in Two Harbors. She thought of these roommates and care-givers as family and enjoyed getting out into the community.

Lori had many jobs over the years - her favorite being the Lake County Recycling Center, where she retired from in 2020.

Lori will be missed by her family, friends, church family, and everyone that knew and loved her.

Lori was preceded in death by her father, John Osbakken, grandparents, and other extended family.

She is survived by her mother, Janice; a sister, Sue (Kirk McIsaac) Osbakken; and extended family.

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Monday, November 17, 2025 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery.
