Margaret Carlsen, 92, of Schroeder, died peacefully, Monday, May 11, 2026 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Margaret was born December 12, 1933 to Conrad and Fern Lorntson at home in Beaver Bay.
She was a trained First Responder, a member of the Sons of Norway Two Harbors Terje Viken Lodge 1-017, a founding member of the Schroeder Area Historical Society, as well as the Fisherman’s Museum in Tofte. Margaret held a commercial fishing “helpers license” to help Kermit with his passion of commercial fishing. She enjoyed polka music, playing the accordion, and quilting.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Kermit Carlsen Sr.; brothers, James “Jimmy” and Martin “Mickey”; and sister, Patricia “Patsy” Reed.
She is survived by her son, Paul Kermit (Tamra) Carlsen Jr.; a daughter, Julie Peters; grandchildren, Melissa Moulton, Paul K. “Duke” Carlsen III, Ashley Ohman, and Margaret “Maggie” Skinner; great-grandchildren, Aleah, Ellie, Kelsey, Isaac, Josiah Thor, Evelyn, Caleb, Charles, Harrison, Henry, Hazlee, and Addie. Her family meant everything to her.
Private services will be held at a later date.
