Marjorie V Johnson

Marjorie (Marge) Violet Johnson, age 93, passed away on March 7, 2026. Born May 15, 1932, in Amherst Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota, to Harry and Hilda McKay, she and her twin sister, Marilyn, were the youngest of seven children.

Marge attended O’Hara Country School and graduated from Harmony High School in 1950. It was on a shared school bus ride that she met the love of her life, Adrian Johnson. They were married on November 22, 1952, beginning a beautiful journey that spanned 73 years.

Marge dedicated her professional career to the medical field. After high school, she began working at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Upon moving to Silver Bay, she worked at the Silver Bay Clinic in the Northshore Building until its closure, and later at the Bay Area Medical Clinic until her retirement in 1993.

In retirement, Marge and Adrian spent their winters in Apache Junction, Arizona, where they remained active in hiking, square dancing, and playing cards. They also volunteered at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Back in Silver Bay, Marge was an active member of Sychar Lutheran Church, always offering a helping hand. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and making her famous donuts and lefse; her canned potatoes were a family favorite. Known for her kindness and generosity, Marge lived life to the fullest and on her own terms until the very end. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew her.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter Gail (Bruce) Smith; son Forrest (Jane Foster) Johnson; and son-in-law, Keith Mickelson. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Andrea (Max) Flippin, Melissa Smith, Sara (Aaron) Lassila, Brian “Bud” (Ali) Mickelson, Brent (Laurissa) Mickelson, and Dylan (Janelle) Johnson, as well as thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Adrian; daughter Becky Mickelson; parents, Harry and Hilda; and siblings Chester, Phyllis, Frances, Donna, Harriet, and her twin sister Marilyn.

A joint memorial service for Majorie and Adrian (who passed away December 31, 2025) will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at a later date at Scotland Cemetery in Preston, Minnesota.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sychar Lutheran Church.
