Nancy Cooper, 94, of Silver Bay died Friday, March 1, 2024, at Carefree Living in Silver Bay.
She was born October 24, 1929, in Seattle, WA and grew up and attended schools in Portland, OR. Nancy met Gordon Cooper, the “cream of the crop” on a blind date, and they later married. They lived in Isle, MN for 11 years before moving to the Lax Lake area. Nancy was a longtime clerk at the Post Offices in Beaver Bay and Finland and later served as Postmaster.
Nancy was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and loved collecting owl and angel figures. She and Gordon enjoyed many years wintering in the South, especially Arizona. Nancy also enjoyed camping and fishing. Nancy really enjoyed the musical group, Celtic Thunder.
Nancy always had famous sayings; “s**t or get off the pot”, “ if you’re a dumb-s**t, I’ll call you a dumb-s**t” and when asked how she was doing, her response was always “ornerier today than yesterday”.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Herb Hamilton; husband, Gordon; daughter-in-law, Barb; one brother; and one step-brother.
She is survived by son Tom; daughter, Bonnie (Tim) Haggberg; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A special thank you to Carefree Living for their wonderful care over the last 4 years and to the ladies in the kitchen, the meals were always wonderful.
