Noreen Patricia Jackson, 93, of Two Harbors, died peacefully on April 29, 2025 at Beehive Homes, Duluth.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 5, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 227 Third Street, Two Harbors, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit.
She was born in Ashland, WI, to James L. and Mary (Weiss) Mockler on September 3, 1931. She was baptized at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Ashland, where she also took her first communion and was confirmed.
Noreen graduated from De Padua High School in Ashland in 1949 as salutatorian. She then attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Marshfield, WI, graduating as a registered nurse in 1952. She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Ashland and in Marshfield before her marriage to Robert H. Jackson of Washburn, WI, who died January 1, 2006 after 52 years of marriage. She briefly worked as a private duty nurse after marrying, and in 1984, she completed a nursing refresher course and continued her nursing career at Lakeview Hospital (now Aspirus Lakeview Hospital), Two Harbors, until retirement about 10 years later. During the interim years, she was a proud mother to six girls and a boy – her family was everything to her. Noreen was an active member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church community, and a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters (now 1891 Financial Life). She enjoyed knitting hats for premature babies, sewing, gardening and crafts.
She is survived by daughters Mary Jackson of Duluth; Kathy (Roger) Amborn of Hermantown; Sue (Bruno) Maki of Duluth; Janet (Pat) Freeh of Houston, TX; Patricia (Steven) Berger of Two Harbors; Barbara Jackson of Duluth; and her son, Cory (Anne Tofte) of Grand Rapids, MN. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Reid (Erica) Amborn and their children, Zoe and Rydan; Danielle (Nick) Rhinehart and their children, Tripp and Luka; Josh (Amanda) Monge; Stephanie Schanno; Nate (Traci) Berger and their children, Elliott and Bridget; Terese Berger; Milan Rivas; and Ada, Hayden and Gus Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brother.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the kind, attentive and friendly staff at Beehive Homes, Duluth, and Waterview Shores, Two Harbors for their compassionate care of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Noreen’s memory to the Two Harbors Area Food Shelf, 2124 10th Street, Two Harbors, MN 55616.
