Prudence C. Melnotte

Prudence C. Melnotte, 81, Silver Bay, died October 10, 2026 unexpectedly at her home.

Prudence was the youngest of 5 children born June 10, 1945 on a Sunday morning, just in time for Sunday School. She met Peter Melnotte in Beaufort, SC while serving in the Women’s Marines and Peter the Navy. They were married on December 31, 1964 and moved to Hibbing, MN then Chisholm where they welcomed a son, Robert D. In 1970, the family moved to Silver Bay and began to establish what is now their home on Hwy 1.

Prue was an active member of Palisade Baptist Church since 1976 and was involved planting trees in the Finland area for a number of years. She was born with a shovel in one hand and a tennis racket in the other. Prue loved all kinds of sports; taking part in basketball in high school, bowling, volleyball ( in which the Finland team took 1st place in Virginia in 1976) and more recently Pickle Ball.

Together with Peter, Prue served at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Silver Bay for 10 years. After Peter’s death, Prue stayed on as a volunteer until Covid shut the doors to volunteers in 2020. She returned to share the love of Jesus with her beloved Veterans in 2026.

Prue sang with North Shore Voices for more than 8 years, played piano, sang in church, did embroidery, crocheting, and lots of gardening. She loved fishing with the family and riding motorcycle, thanks to Peter.

But more than this, Prue would want you to know But greater than all is the Love of the Lord, her Savior, who died for our sins. Now she joins Peter in Heaven and all who believe in Christ according to the Scriptures. Ephesians 2: 8-10, John 14: 1-6, John 3: 1-8. YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN.

Prue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Peter; and brothers, Melvin and Sonny.

She is survived by her son, Rob (KarLa) Melnotte; grandsons, Trent (Jordynne) and Caleb (Heidi); great-grandsons Davis and Levi; sisters Alice and June.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the 11 AM Funeral Service on Monday, October 19, 2026 at Palisade Baptist Church in Silver Bay. Burial will be at 2 PM in Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery.
