Raymond A. Weideman

Ray passed peacefully into his Heavenly Father’s loving arms September 27, 2026, surrounded by family. Born in Silver Creek Township May 13, 1937, to Edwin and Frances (Udelhofen) Udenberg. Ray took his stepfather’s last name when his mother married Arnold F. Weideman.

Ray grew up primarily in Silver Creek Township with short stays in Michigan and Illinois. Ray married Lois Ramey (Peterson) in 1973 and they resided in Scandia, Minnesota. They had a strong abiding love. Ray was Lois’ primary caretaker in the final years of her life until her passing in 2025. Lois’ four children became Ray’s family too.

Ray served in the Marine Reserves, and later in the Army. Ray worked for American Hoist and Derrick and many years as a heavy equipment operator for Bryan Rock and Gravel.

Ray had a love of animals and of farming and farm equipment. His love of horses started in his childhood – riding with his mother and siblings. Ray skidded logs with draft horses in a logging operation inland from Gooseberry Falls a couple seasons when he was young. He rode horses most of his adult life. Ray kept a few head of beef cattle and had dogs and cats.

Ray is survived by Kris Ramey Weber, Peggy Ramey and Steve Ramey; grandchildren Nick Weber (Jana Graczyk), Brett Weber (Emily), Jessica Ramey, Shawn Ramey; great grandchildren Oliver, Beckett, Lincoln and Freya; sisters Marilyn Rosenquist and Lois Weideman; brother Jim Weideman, sister-in-law Peggi Weideman; nieces and nephews (and their spouses) Kyle (Robin) Weideman, Bob (Kristi) Rosenquist, Sue Rosenquist, Holly Gustafson, Gina (Jeff) Dumas and Bobby (Tiffany) Weideman. Ray was especially close with his grand-nephews Jesse, Joren, and Kaiden Weideman.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, parents, stepfather; brothers Robert, Arnold G. (Junior) and Gary Weideman; step siblings Darrell, Arlene, and Ardella Weideman; brother-in-law Robert Rosenquist, sister-in-law Mary Gustafson and stepson Scott Ramey.

The family also wants to remember special friends Roger Rydeen, Karin Norlen, Justin Tourila and Willy Sipper.

Ray returned to his church family late in life and found joy and comfort in Sunday worship with Pastor Ben Stewart.

The family wants to thank the Minneapolis VA for their excellent care and treatment of Ray as he battled cancer and heart failure over the past twenty-one months. Family is also thankful for the care Ray received in his last weeks from Moments Hospice.

Service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Two Harbors on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Visitation at 10 a.m.; service at 11 a.m. Refreshments and visiting after the church service. Burial at Lakeview Cemetery with Honor Guard at 2 p.m.
