Richard F. Ogren, 89, of Duluth died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 6, 2024.
He was born August 19, 1934, to Gunnar and Bertha (Strand) Ogren in Two Harbors where he grew up and attended schools. After high school he worked for Gopher State Telephone Company until enlisting in the Army. After discharge from the Army, Dick returned to the local phone company, which later became Contel, GTE and Verizon, retiring after 37 years of service.
Dick was a member of the VFW and served on its drill team. He enjoyed traveling for many years, golf, skiing, and stained-glass work.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Beverly; a brother, Robert Ogren; and sister, Mary Jane Elander.
Dick is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elaine; children Vicki (Gunnar) Johnson, Cindi (Terry Costello) Ogren; grandchildren, Cassi (Mike) Lee and Alicia (Justin) Norman; great-grandchildren, Kade and Karli Norman; stepsons, Paul (Lori) Merrill, Bill (Eileen Jordahl) Merrill, and Roger (Jennifer) Merrill and their families; and a nephew and nieces.
Memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army.
