Richard Lee Singleton, left this world to be with the Lord on May 27, 2022 due to complications from cancer related to agent orange exposure.

Richard was born on October 9, 1946 in Medford, Wisconsin, and moved with his family to Northwest Logging Camp in 1951. He attended grade school at Sawbill Landing, then William Kelley High School in Silver Bay. In 1964, he went to work at Reserve Mining Company, and was drafted into the Army in 1965. He served as a combat military policeman and spent 11 months and 21 days of his tour in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge on September 21, 1967 he returned to Reserve Mining, and later worked for other employers as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator, retiring from North Shore Oil and Propane.

He was well known and loved for the candy and dog treats he added to the Sunday newspapers he delivered for 21 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Ellsworth Singleton and Maybel Bathe; two brothers, Dwight and Raymond; and a sister, Mae Dehnhoff.

He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Lynda “Lyn”, who cared for him until the end; his children, Tracy (Tim) Phillips, Richard Lee (Lisa) Singleton, and Brian Singleton; a step-son, Stephen (Brandy) Herbst; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; sisters, Nancy (Charles) Tekautz, Lila (Adrian) VanDeVoort, and Gail Melting; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held later this summer at the American Legion in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Crystal Bay Cemetery in Finland. To share your memories or condolences online please visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com.
