Ronald Bigelow

Ron Bigelow, 86, of Two Harbors died on Friday, September 6, 2019 at his son’s home in Monticello, MN.

Ron was born on June 5, 1933 to Edward and Mildred (Bromley) Bigelow in Fargo, North Dakota, and grew up in Dodge Center and later Two Harbors, where he graduated from high school in 1951. During the Korean War, Ron served in the U.S. Air Force for 3 years. After his military service, he returned to Two Harbors and was employed by the DM&IR Railroad and later Reserve Mining Company until he was hired by the City of Two Harbors, where he worked for many years, retiring as superintendent of the wastewater treatment facility.

Ron was a member of the United Church and the Lions Club. He enjoyed woodcarving, reading and writing, and even authored a book. In his younger years he was certified as an electronics repairman and had a life-long interest in new technology. Ron and Ruth enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Ruth; sons, Rick (Lori) and Randy; grandchildren, Matthew and Olivia; and a sister Kaye Kromschroeder.

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the United Church in Two Harbors.
