Sharon A. Peters, 70, Two Harbors, died Monday February 28, 2022 At Fairview University Hospital, with her family at her side. A cancer survivor, she also fought a four-year battle with pulmonary hypertension and it’s side effects.
Sharon was born April 26, 1951 to Ardell and Lorine (Weickum) Granlund in Dallas, Oregon and moved with her family to Silver Bay in 1956, where she grew up and attended school. A blind date with Tom Peters on June 21, 1969, led to their marriage on February 14, 1970. Their first home was in Hutchinson, where Sharon was employed as a hospital ward clerk. When they moved to Two Harbors in 1976, Sharon stayed home with her children while they were young, then worked as a bank teller for several years. In 1984, she returned to college and in l988 graduated from the College of St. Scholastica with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in nursing. She obtained her dream of being the highly compassionate and loving caregiver she was in 1988 employed as a Pediatric ICU/RN at Essentia Health until retiring in 2015.
Sharon enjoyed craftwork of all kinds: ceramics, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch, sewing, including wedding dresses, and baking, including, wedding cakes. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of nursing.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers-in-law, Doug Ball and Jim Janzen.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Tom; a son, Travis (Amy) Peters; a daughter, Nicolle (Bill) Schultz; grandchildren, David, Brianna, Drake and Alexis; sisters, Beverly Ball, Cindy (William) Brown and Diane Janzen; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Sharon’s life will be held in the summer at the family home. Burial will be in Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery.
