Shirley Udenberg, 86, Two Harbors, died Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital, after a 9 month battle with kidney failure.
Shirley was born July 1, 1939 to Paul and Vivian (Keller) Carlson in Two Harbors, where she was a life-long resident. She married Floyd Udenberg in 1958 and was employed as a teller at First National Bank from 1957-1963 and then in the business office at Lake View Memorial Hospital for 14 years, retiring in 1992.
Shirley was a member of the United Church. In her younger years, she enjoyed curling and golf.
A cancer survivor of 35 years, she enjoyed dancing, camping, and fishing in the canoe with Floyd. She loved her family and fought hard the last 9 months with stage 5 kidney failure and 3 times a week dialysis. She fought so hard to be able to spend as much time as possible with Floyd, her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jerry Carlson.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Floyd; children, Susan (Warren) Miller, Terri (Jim) McDannold, and Jim (Jessica Haars) Udenberg; grandchildren, Jesse (Kelsey) Miller, Kiera (Billy) Wilson, Miranda (Nick Swanson) McDannold, Matthew (Alex Hallstrom) McDannold, Lara and Peter Udenberg; great-grandchildren, Ava, Brielle, Emmit, Willa, Adelyn, Mason, and Mykenna; brother, Jim (Mary Lou) Carlson; sister-in-law, Beth Carlson; and nieces, nephews, and friends.
