Terry Amos

June 24, 1944 — March 4, 2020

Two Harbors

Terry L. Amos, 75, Two Harbors, died Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth.

Terry was born June 24, 1944 to Arthur and Daisy (Eubanks) Amos in St. Louis Missouri. He made a career of his service as a chef in the U. S. Army and Navy, and was last stationed in the Twin Cities.

Following his military service, Terry lived on the North Shore of Lake Superior and worked in some of the popular restaurants, until his health no longer permitted. He continued to live in various northern Minnesota communities until moving to Two Harbors in 2009, to reside at Harbor Point Apartments.

Years ago, Terry’s favorite past-time was to pack a lunch and take long daily hikes. More recently, he loved taking his scooter out on the beautiful trails in Two Harbors. He also enjoyed his extensive movie collection, and when poor health confined his activities, TV was a constant companion – especially Hallmark Christmas movies.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and Mickey; and an infant son, Patrick.

He is survived by his sons, David (Maribeth), Donald, Christopher (Diane), and Joseph; daughter, Terri Grosvenor; his former wife, Pat (Russell) Jost; grandchildren; and his dear friend Mary Jo Lund and her family.

It seemed that everyone Terry encountered would be treated to his pleasant and playful personality. He also freely shared his caring ways.

Thank you to Terry’s friends and neighbors at Harbor Point apartments and Waterview Shores Assisted Living, who passed through his always open door to visit, encourage, assist, run errands, and help in any way you could.

Thank you also to the professional caregivers who not only provided service, but found many ways to do something special for Terry.

Thank you to Essentia Hospice and Solvay Hospice House for the kind and compassionate care they provided for Terry in his last days

Private graveside services with military honors will be held at Minnesota Veteran’s Cemetery in Hermantown.
