Tom Malmo, 90, Silver Bay, died Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Silver Bay.

He was born February 4, 1927 in Vancouver, British Columbia.  Son of Albin and Estelle Malmo, Tom grew up and attended schools in Duluth before graduating from Shattuck Military Academy.  He served as a Navy corpsman attached to the Marines during the Occupation of Japan in 1945 and was deployed a second time in 1950 during the Korean War.  He served in and survived the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir.

During his retirement Tom volunteered countless hours at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Silver Bay and was often driving veterans to appointments in Superior and Minneapolis.

The family is so grateful for the love, care, honor and respect he received during his time at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Silver Bay.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”  Matthew 5:16 ESV
