Verna Bergquist

Verna Bergquist, 92, died Friday, July 10, 2026 at Agate Bay Assisted Living in Two Harbors. Verna was born November 14, 1933 to Albert and Natalia (Mantie) Recksiedler in Sewell Manitoba, Canada, where she grew up and attended school. She went to University in Winnipeg graduating with a degree in Home Economics. She moved to the US to Detroit Lakes, MN and later to Windom MN. She then moved to Wahpeton, ND where she retired, later moving to Superior WI.

Verna enjoyed her work with children, family, friends, time at the lake, card games, watching Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show, and occasionally playing the piano.

She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, ND.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Mark Bergquist; and sisters, Dorothy (Wes) Blom, Marion (John) Wuotila, and Eldora Recksiedler.

She is survived by her sister, Alice (Ed) Armstrong; daughter, Nancy Bergquist, and three grandchildren, Caleb, Bailey and Max.
