Vincent Ettestad

Vincent Ettestad, 82, of Two Harbors, died Thursday, July 1, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness.

Vince was born to Henry and Anna (Sorquist) Ettestad on September 7, 1938 in Deer River, Minnesota and grew up in Wildwood, Minnesota.  Vince graduated from Northome high school in 1956 and entered the Army later that year and was stationed in Germany much of his time in the service.

Vince married Katherine Manske in 1960 and together they moved to Two Harbors in 1961. He was employed by Reserve Mining Company in the maintenance department for many years, and later worked for LaBounty Manufacturing/Stanley until retiring in 2001.

Vince was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and the Loyal Order of Moose. He enjoyed traveling in his motorhome, with frequent trips to Northome, Blackduck, and Bemidji to visit family and friends. His spectacular Christmas displays in his yard brought joy to many. He spent countless hours in his garage fixing, building, and working on equipment.

Vince was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna; brothers, Archie, Knute, Myron, Milton, Gordy and Howard; sisters, Velma, Lila, and Eunice; and a  step-daughter, Tracy Halvorson.

He is survived by his sister Rosaline; sons, Gene (Faith), Todd (Shannon), and David (Suzanne) and their mother, Katherine Strom; grandchildren, Jon (Valentina), Zachary, Anna, Sahvanna, Tyler, Aaron (Christina), Brent, and Brianna; a number of great-grandchildren; longtime companion, Pat Torgersen; and stepchildren, Cynthia (Peter) Emerson, Michael Halvorson, Jayne (Lowell) Rosendahl, and Kristin (John) Hill and their families.

Services will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. A Graveside gathering will be held at 1pm on Thursday, July 22 at the Wildwood Cemetery near Northome.
