Wallace Carlson

Wallace (Wally) R. Carlson, 88, died peacefully of natural causes on February 13 2017, at Ecumen Scenic Shores in Two Harbors.

Wally was born on July 17, 1928 in Two Harbors, MN, to parents John and Bertha Carlson where he grew up on a farm in Silver Creek with his many siblings.

In 1951 Wally enlisted in the Army for 2 years where he was stationed in Korea. Shortly after separating from the Army, Wally met and married Dorothy Holmes. Wally and Dorothy were married for 61 years until Dorothy’s passing in 2015.

Wally was an excellent craftsman who built and lived in 4 homes in Two Harbors.  He also enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Except for his stint in the Army, Wally lived and worked in Two Harbors his entire life. Over his career, Wally worked for the DM&IR Railroad, Harbor Gas, O&N Oil and COMO Oil and Propane.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy (Holmes) Carlson, his daughter Denise Marquardt and three brothers, and three sisters.

Wally is survived by his daughter Darlene (Brian) Lamo, of Ocala, Florida, He has four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

At Wally’s request, no funeral or formal service is planned. In lieu of flowers and donations, charitable donations may be sent to the Ecumen Scenic Shores in Two Harbors who provided a caring and safe home for Wally the last years of his life.
